Founded in 1965 by Félix-Antoine Savard, the Papeterie manufactures handmade cotton-based paper using an ancestral method. A process that respects nature, in which local hand-picked flower petals are introduced; no trees are cut, and no bleaching agents are used. For more than 50 years, the company's mission has been to develop and create from the fascinating and timeless material that is cotton. This art of producing and using paper, developed in Europe in the 17th century and adapted by the Papeterie, is now recognized across the border.
In the workshop of the Papeterie, you will meet the craftsmen who make paper as was done in the 17th century. You will see the local flower petals get mixed in with the paper pulp and the watermark with the effigy of Saint-Gilles, which is internationally recognized. A return to the past to discover this timeless know-how.
Stop by the boutique to discover the hig-quality writing and craft papers, as well as many related products, including: cards, binders, the Charlevoix Star (pictured), gift sets, etc.
