Romain Francès has been a passionate ironworker since the age of 15. In his work, he uses materials such as iron, steel, copper and brass. The trade requires both great physical ability and a wide range of knowledge, from technical drawing to art history, as well as mastery of disciplines such as metalwork. His expertise extends to the manufacture of furniture, railings, staircases, sculptures, lighting fixtures, gates and locksmithing.
As a master craftsman, he attaches great importance to passing on his know-how to young people and others interested in the trade. Apprentices can therefore be found in his workshop. He also offers training courses covering a wide range of skills such as ornamentation, assembly, embossing, the use of specialized tools, technical drawing and geometry.
Ironmongers invest in durability. His use of a restored mechanical hammer, dating from 1894, testifies to his attachment to traditional methods and authenticity in his work. Romain Francès values quality and longevity, encouraging conservation so that pieces can be handed down from generation to generation.
